According to a new scientific study printed in the Psychology and Aging journal, if you start gambling on the internet when you are young you will probably suffer less bad effects compared to starting to gamble when you are older. This is contrary to what we are led to believe by the powers that be who do everything they can to censor internet gambling for the young. Indeed it is now thought that it is the older generation who are likely to become addicts.

Poker tournaments are legal. So says a municipal court in Denmark recently, despite a previous ruling by the Justice Ministry’s legal affairs committee in 2006 that poker was considered as illegal gambling. The reason for the recent ruling is because poker is so popular – half a million Danes play as often as they can. Apparently poker has to be played with wisdom and intelligence.
Since the smoking ban in US casinos came into effect eight months ago, it has proved to be a disastrous step for the industry in Illinois. 926,000 fewer players came to the casinos than during the same period in 2007, making quite a dent in revenue. It’s not just the smokers who don’t go to play at all, it’s the smokers who go to play but take the necessary time out for their smoking breaks. This means less time to play!
Interestingly, a recent survey found that bingo is the online game choice of women. Not only do more women than men play online bingo (13 females to one male) they are also more concerned with security and safety on the sites they select. Apparently gaming operators are aware of this and cater for women with their choice of colour schemes on their sites.
Although a lot of online bingo sites already give support by way of budgeting advice to their customers, together with the rest of the gambling industry they have now given a very large amount to help set up a new clinic for gamblers in London’s Soho. The clinic will be run by the British Medical Association and has been open for referrals since 15th September.
